Chalice with a multifoil base that encircles a star-shaped form in relief. On one of the faces of this form, there is an engraved theme of cross, skull and tibia.
The stem is hexagonal in section, a flattened spherical node with phytomorphic motifs that form diamond-shaped medallions. A hexagonal prismatic ring separates the stem from the smooth cup.
According to tradition, this chalice was a gift from the King D. Manuel I to the Parish Church of Machico.
Note its similarity with two chalices of the collection of the Albert Sampaio Museum in Guimarães1.
The punchwork is from the city of Antwerp in the early 16th century.
